In Europol, the organization coordinating the police cooperation in the European Union László Salgó, former national chief of Hungarian police won the post of deputy director which deals with anti-terrorism and with specially dangerous crimes, Mónika Lamperth, Minister of the Interior announced yesterday on a briefing held after the session of the council of Ministers of the Interior and Justice in Brussels. She said there was no decision yet about Budapest or Warsaw to be the centre of the frontier guard organization of the European Union. Ms Lamperth did not tell clearly if Mr Salgó lost his chances to become chief of police in the European Union but experts find it improbable. The council decided to introduce biometric passports containing fingerprints. Ms Lamperth said the Ministry did not plan to follow the Austrian example by combining frontier guard and the police and said the remuneration of the Hungarian police and the increase of the cases of corruption were not in connection.
