Yesterday István Hiller party chairman urged the government to introduce the taxation of parasolvency while Jenő Rácz, Minister of Health recognized the existence of a plan published in Magyar Nemzet which intended to introduce payments for health services even for the insured.
István Hiller said the government should give the right prescription for the troubles of the health system and not the bitter pills. He said if tips were to be taxed medical bribes should be also taxed (there is a law for the latter but it has not been kept so far). Mr Hiller said more money was necessary for urgent treatments, for modern ambulance cars and for more helicopters with new bases. He said the health service spends HUF 350 billion more than in 2002 but because of the weaknesses of the system the sum poured into a bottomless well.
Jenő Rácz, Minister of Health met yesterday the chairmen of the medical and pharmacists’ chamber. Gábor Kuncze, chairman of the Free Democrats agrees with the measures but urges more radical steps, involving private capital and setting up a multi-level insurance with clear rights and obligations.
