In the course of the past ten years it was in the first nine month of this year that the highest number of bankruptcy proccedings occurred ending with liquidation or dissolution but the liquidity of the companies has also deteriorated. The report of Creditreform shows that in the first nine monts of 2005 there were 12 pc more bankruptcy proceedings announced than in the corresponding period of 2004.
According to the report the number of such proceedings surpassed 9000 again, after a similar recession in 2001. The number of delayed payments has also increased and the circular indebtedness causes problems mainly in the building industry. The collection of outstanding accounts causes difficulties for the subcontractors, too, and recently the French institute Coface which surveys 44 million companies globally has stated that the liquidity of Hungarian companies deteriorated dramatically as the period allowed for payment has grown from 35 days in last June to an average of 81 days at present.
